I do believe that an Opportunity belief is in play. In this country, specifically, everyone has opportunities to progress in life or digress. We have the ability to improve everyday. Some people have more resources than others, but an unprecedented work ethic, understanding of your passion, and what you are good at is key to optimizing your opportunity and turn it into something of success.I wanted to be a pro baseball player at 17-18 years old as a senior in high school and recent graduate, then my ideology changed, rapidly. I understood that i was talented, but it was a far-fetched goal that wasn't necessarily realistic. Yet, I was able to develop an internal locus of control, and believe that I can control my future with the things ahead of me, not everything, but most things. Now as a 22 year old going on 23 I have a more vivid understanding of the demand and supply of the markets that I want to go into. My passions, my talents, and my work ethic. My unmet need is a certain level of success/wealth that i am hungry, and ambitious to acquire. I have that need, the need came from my own internal locus of control. People are going to college to meet this need, networking with successful, intelligent, knowledgeable people. Listening, and finding the right job/industry to help satisfy this need. I am 110% percent sure this opportunity exists considering I have felt myself grow as an individual and professional the past few years, and my mind has opened up to learn from others.
My prototypical customer would be someone in the Healthcare industry that needs a different software program, I am the sales person and am selling it. I would need to gain an understanding of their primary needs as well as their secondary needs. And develop a consultative approach, or possibly a transactional, depending on the nature of the business and the relationship with the customer. My reflection for this opportunity would be to address my adaptive listening skills, and develop a win-win for me and the customer, not just shoving a product or service down their throat that they dont need, which is often a common practice for most companies. I believe my original opportunity will still be there if I apply those ethics to the customers in my desired industry, I believe my opportunity will still be accurate, but would need to see how the approach plays out and learn from there. I believe Entrepreneurs should always be listening to customer feedback. A lot of Entrepreneurs are in the tech industry, which is constantly evolving and is a good idea to learn from respected individuals or even new clients. Customer feedback is very important.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading your blog, I am having trouble understanding your opportunity. It appears to me that you are a salesperson and your product is a software program. I guess what I am saying is, what does the software program do? Other than that, I gained a lot of insight about you personally. From your early career ambitions to your current work ethic. I concur that motivation comes from within. Self-motivation is also a good character trait to possess.
Hey Cody, After reading this comment, I was a bit confused at what your actual opportunity belief was. It transitioned from you talking about how you wanted to succeed and the ambition you have, to you talking about a healthcare software program. Rather than talking in hypotheticals, interviews are necessary to understand the customer base. If you went and talked to some prospective clients then it would help you improve your opportunity belief.
